THE SMOKING RIO GRAND CABOOSE WAS NOT FACTORY MADE.
After removing the shell all observed examples have unpainted edges of the hole for the smoke stack to go through the roof. The number in the service manual is for a completed shell. Lionel did decorating last after the right sized hole was put through the roof. Therefore to be real the edges should be painted.
