Lionel “O” Gauge Metal Tunnels

Lionel No. 118, 118L Tunnels
General Information
The Lionel No. 118 “O” Gauge Metal Tunnel was introduced in 1920 and was cataloged through 1932. The tunnel was constructed of hand painted steel or brass with embossed simulated stone portals with “Lionel” on keystones on both ends. The tunnel was painted to represent a wooded mountain with road and snow-capped peak in shades of gray, green, red and yellow. Since the tunnels were all hand painted the design and colors varied and no two tunnels are exactly the same. Tunnels have either tan portals or dark yellow portals. The tunnel is 8-inches long, 7 ¼-inches wide and 7-inches tall.
The No. 118L Tunnel is identical to the No. 118 except that it is illuminated. The No. 118L Tunnel also has a dormer from the No. 189 Villa and a front porch railing from the No. 191 Villa on each side. The No. 118L Tunnel was only available in 1927 and 1928.

Lionel No. 119, 119L Tunnels
General Information
The Lionel No. 119 “O” Gauge Metal Tunnel was introduced in 1920 and was cataloged through 1942. The tunnel was constructed of hand painted steel or brass with embossed simulated stone portals with “Lionel” on keystones on both ends. The tunnel was painted to represent a wooded mountain with road and snow-capped peak in shades of gray, green, red and yellow. Since the tunnels were all hand painted the design and colors varied and no two tunnels are exactly the same. The tunnel is 12-inches long, 9-inches wide and 9-inches tall.
The No. 119 Tunnel was issued with two distinct paint colors. The early version of the No. 119 Tunnel has tan portals and subdued paint colors. The later version of the tunnel has yellow portals and very bright paint colors.
The No. 119L Tunnel is identical to the No. 119 Tunnel except that it is illuminated. The No. 119L Tunnel also has a painted waterfall passing under a 3-1/4-inch long bridge, white two-story house with maroon roof and white chimney. The No. 119L Tunnel was available from 1927 through 1933.

Lionel No. 130 Tunnels
General Information
The Lionel No. 130 “O” Gauge Tunnel was cataloged in 1926 only. The No. 130 Tunnel was a 90-degree curve constructed of hand painted steel with embossed simulated stone portals with “Lionel” on keystones on both ends. The tunnel was painted to represent a wooded mountain with five chalet-style houses, road and waterfall passing under bridge and snow-capped peak in shades of gray, green, red and yellow. Since the tunnels were all hand painted the design and colors varied and no two tunnels are exactly the same. The tunnel is 26-inches long, 23-inches wide and 14 ½-inches tall.
The No. 130L Tunnel is similar to the No. 130 except that it is illuminated. The No. 130L Tunnel is 30-inches long, 16 ½-inches wide and 14 ½-inches tall. The No. 130L Tunnel was available from 1927 through 1933.
