General Information
The Lionel No. 900 Ammunition Car was introduced in 1917 and was issued through 1920. The No. 900 Ammunition Car was very similar to the Early No. 800 Box Car introduced by Lionel in 1915. The No. 900 Ammunition Car was included as a component of one cataloged set. Set No. 214 consisted of the No. 203 Motor Car plus two No. 900 Ammunition Cars.
The No. 900 Ammunition Car has a four-wheel frame, tongue and slot couplers, and no journals. The No. 900 Ammunition Car measures 5 3/4-inches in length. The ammunition car body and roof was painted battleship gray. The frame was painted black. The cars have sliding doors that open and have a handle that was stamped into the right side of the door. The door guides are inside the car. The car has no markings on the sides, ends, or underside of the car.
