No. 5189 SEARS O GAUGE PASSENGER OUTFIT, 1926

The box labels date this outfit to 1926. Lionel moved their office from 48-52 East 21st Street to 15-17-19 East 26th Street sometime in late 1925 or early 1926. Because Lionel was using up their supply of old top labels and the new end label this Sears O gauge No. 49F5189 passenger outfit can be dated to 1926. The only thing that distinguishes this outfit from a regular Lionel No. 294 outfit is the end of this outfit box is stamped with the Sears No. 5189 which is shortened from the actual Sears 49F5189 catalog number. The olive green No. 252 electric locomotive has manual reverse, brass trim, nickel journals, strap headlight and combination couplers. 1927 and later locomotives had cast headlights and latch couplers. Two No. 529 Pullmans and a No. 530 observation came with this outfit and are painted olive green and have red window and door inserts, latch couplers, no journals and no interior lighting. The outfit contents also include a No. 88 rheostat, a No. 068 Warning Signal, 8 OC curved tracks, 2 OS straight tracks and OTC Lockon.
