General Information

The No. 566 Ives Tank Car was offered by Lionel in the 1930 Ives Catalog. The No. 566 Tank Car represents a true transition from Ives to Lionel and is comprised of components from both companies. Lionel was utilizing remaining parts from the Ives inventory after the takeover by Lionel and combining them with Lionel parts, as necessary, to produce complete cars for sale. The No. 566 Tank Car utilized an Ives frame, couplers and wheels to be compatible with other freight cars in the Ives line. The tank, handrails, ladders and domes were components of the Lionel No. 804 Tank Car. The tank car has an orange painted tank and tank supports, three brass domes, brass plates, brass handrails, and brass ladders. The car has a four-wheel frame painted black with hook and slot couplers.

There are no variations of the No. 566 Ives Tank Car by Lionel.

The No. 66 Tank Car utilized an Ives frame, couplers, journals and trucks to be compatible with other freight cars in the Ives line. The tank, domes, handrails, and ladders were components of the Lionel No. 804 Tank Car. The tank car has an orange

painted tank and tank supports, three brass domes, brass plates, brass handrails, and brass ladders. The car has a black frame with four-wheel trucks and Ives manual couplers.

The No. 122 Tank Car represents a true transition from Ives to Lionel and is comprised of components from both companies. Lionel was utilizing remaining parts from the Ives inventory after the takeover by Lionel and combining them with Lionel parts, as necessary, to produce complete cars for sale. The No. 122 Tank Car utilized an Ives frame, couplers, journals and trucks to be compatible with other freight cars in the Ives line. The tank, domes, handrails, ladders, and brake wheel stands were components of the Lionel No. 815 Tank Car. The tank car has a yellow painted tank and tank supports, brass plates, brass handrails, brass ladders and three brass domes. The car has a black frame with Ives manual couplers.

The only variation of the No. 122 Ives Tank Car by Lionel relates to the brass plates. The first tank cars issued in 1929 had blank plates.
