General Information
The No. 1695 Pullman, No. 1696 Baggage and No. 1697 Observation Passenger Cars were offered by Lionel in the 1932 Ives Catalog. The cars were marked as “The Ives Lines” with gold decals applied to the sides of the cars. The car number is rubber stamped in black serif lettering on the sides of the car to the left and right of the Ives decal. In 1933, the markings were changed to “Lionel Lines” and the cars were issued as Nos. 1685, 1686 and 1687. The Lionel version of the passenger cars were available from 1933 through 1937. The No. 1695, 1696, 1697 Passenger Cars measure 12-inches in length. The passenger cars have a light gray painted body with a maroon painted roof and floor pan (often referred to as a “fish belly”) and cream painted door and window inserts. The cars have brass handrails, brass baggage door handles and a brass observation railing. The cars have 6-wheel trucks with copper journals and latch couplers. These passenger cars were illuminated, but did not have celluloid strips in the windows.
There are no variations of the No. 1695, 1696, 1697 Passenger Cars.
