Lionel No. 529, 530 Passenger Cars

General Information

The Lionel No. 529 Pullman and No. 530 Observation Passenger Cars were introduced in 1926 and were issued through 1934. The No. 529 and No. 530 shared the same body with the No. 629 and No. 630 passenger cars and were the smallest of the passenger cars issued by Lionel during the Classic Period. These passenger cars were included as components of many smaller low end or entry level passenger sets.
The No. 529 and 530 Passenger Cars measure 6 3/4-inches in length. All of the cars have four wheels with the axles connected directly to the frame of the car. The sides of the cars have a single metal insert, painted a contrasting color, to create the doors, window inserts, and identification of the car number and type. Many of the car have a thin blue celluloid strip in the upper portion of the windows. The cars are not illuminated.
Variations of the No. 529 and No. 530 Passenger Cars include changes to the body color, insert color, frame color, and journals. The cars all have latch couplers.
