Lionel No. 610, 612 Passenger Cars

General Information

The Lionel No. 610 Pullman and No. 612 Observation Passenger Cars were introduced in 1926 and were issued through 1937. The No. 610 and No. 612 were medium sized passenger cars issued by Lionel during the Classic Period. These passenger cars were included as components of many mid-range cataloged passenger sets. They were also included in many uncataloged or “Special” sets.
The No. 610 and 612 Passenger Cars measure 8 3/4-inches in length. The sides of the cars have a single metal insert, painted a contrasting color, to create the doors, window inserts, and identification of the car number and type. The cars all have a clear or frosted celluloid strip in the windows. Some of cars also have a thin white or blue strip covering the upper portion of the windows to simulate shades. The cars were all illuminated.
Variations of the No. 610 and No. 612 Passenger Cars include changes to the body color, roof color, insert color, and journals. All of the cars have air tanks underneath the car. All of the cars have brass railing, except as noted otherwise, below. The cars all have latch couplers. The cars all have “The Lionel Lines” rubber stamped above the windows, except as noted otherwise, below.
