GENERAL INFORMATION
Produced from 1955 through 1958, these un-numbered cars were all made from the same sheet metal frame. They were made in a variety of colors and shades. We are showing one each of the primary colors. They came with either Serif or Sanserif lettering. Most were heat stamped, but there are rubber stamped versions also. Additionally, variations in the length of “LIONEL” exist. It appears that the heat stamped “LIONEL” is 2 inches in length while the rubber stamped versions are 2-1/8 inches long. While the log or pipe loads can easily be switched, it is generally agreed that the 6111 is the designation for logs; while 6121 is for pipes. Finally, they are found with either bar-end metal trucks or AAR trucks. Loads may be 3 to 5 logs or plastic pipes.
