General Information

The Lionel No. 613 Pullman, No. 614 Observation, and No. 615 Baggage Passenger Cars were introduced in 1931 and were issued through 1940. The No. 613, No. 614, and No. 615 were the largest tinplate passenger cars and shared the same body with the No. 2613, No. 2614, and No. 2615 passenger cars all issued by Lionel following the Classic Period. These passenger cars were included as components of a number of the largest cataloged passenger sets. They were also included in at least one uncatalogued set.

The No. 613, 614, and 615 Passenger Cars measure 10 1/4-inches in length. The sides of the cars have a single metal insert, painted a contrasting color, to create the doors, window inserts, and identification of the car number and type. The baggage car also has independently opening doors that match the color of the insert. The Pullman and Observation cars have a clear or frosted celluloid strip in the windows. The cars also had a thin blue celluloid strip in the upper portion of the windows. The cars were all illuminated, including the baggage car.

Variations of the No. 613, No. 614, and No. 615 Passenger Cars include changes to the body color, roof color, insert color, couplers, steps, vestibules, trim, “fish Bellies”, and journals.
