General Information

The Lionel No. 2600 Pullman, No. 2601 Observation, and No. 2602 Baggage Passenger Cars were introduced in 1938 and were issued through 1942. The No. 2600, No. 2601, and No. 2602 were medium sized passenger cars and shared the same body with the No. 600, No. 601, and No. 602 passenger cars all issued by Lionel following the Classic Period. These passenger cars were included as components of a number of mid-range cataloged passenger sets. The cars in the second listing, below, were included in two uncataloged sets.

The No. 2600, 2601, and 2602 Passenger Cars measure 9-inches in length. The sides of the cars have a single metal insert, painted a contrasting color, to create the doors, window inserts, and identification of the car number and type. The baggage car also has independently opening doors that match the color of the insert. The Pullman and Observation cars have a clear or frosted celluloid strip in the windows. The cars were all illuminated, including the baggage car.

Variations of the No. 2600, No. 2601, and No. 2602 Passenger Cars are limited to steps or no steps, color of the journals, height of the couplers and the length of the wheelbase. All of the 2600 passenger cars have operating box couplers.
