No. 620 Searchlight Car with red frame and silver painted searchlight (1937-1939)
No. 620 Searchlight Car with red frame and gray painted searchlight (1940-1942)


General Information

The Lionel No. 620 Searchlight Cars were introduced in 1937 and were issued through 1942. The cars had a single searchlight in the center of the car mounted directly to the frame. There was no switch to turn the searchlight off. The single searchlight could be manually rotated. The No. 620 Searchlight Cars always had manual couplers.
The No. 620 Searchlight Cars measure 6 1/2-inches in length. The searchlight cars always had a red frame with the searchlight mounted directly to the frame. The searchlight was either painted silver or painted gray. The cars were identified by a rubber stamped number on the underside of the frame.
Variations of the No. 620 Searchlight Cars are minimal and include only differences in the searchlight and journals. All of the No. 620 Searchlight Cars had latch couplers.

The cars have nickel trim and nickel journals. The cars have latch couplers.

The cars have nickel trim and black journals. The cars have latch couplers.
