Lionel No. 2957 Caboose
General Information
The Lionel No. 2957 New York Central (N.Y.C.) Caboose was introduced in 1940 and was issued through 1942. The No. 2957 Cabooses measure 9-inches in length. The cabooses were made of a diecast metal with molded details for the windows and doors. The body, roof, cupola and underside were all painted Tuscan brown. Added details included a stack, rear running lights, steps, ladders, handrails, air brake tank, and catwalk. The car number, “N.Y.C. 19400” and other information were heat stamped on the sides of the car in white. The cabooses were illuminated. The cars have black journals. The cabooses have late style operating box couplers. The coupler height and shank length varied.
