Lionel No. 2954 Box Car
General Information
The Lionel No. 2954 Pennsylvania Box Car was introduced in 1940 and was issued through 1942. The No. 2954 Box Cars were based on the PRR X29 class. The No. 2954 Box Cars measure 10 1/2-inches in length. The box cars were made of a phenolic resin with molded details for the ladders and ribbed sides. The body, roof and underside were all painted Tuscan brown. The cars had sliding doors that matched the color of the car body. The doors opened and were held closed by a black metal latch. The doors were held in place by black metal door guides. The car number, “Pennsylvania”, PRR Herald, and capacity data were heat stamped on the sides of the car in white. The cars have black journals. The box cars have late style operating box couplers. The coupler height and shank length varied.
