Lionel No. 1515 Tank Cars

General Information

The Lionel / Ives No. 1515 Tank Cars were introduced in 1931 and were issued through 1937. The No. 1515 Tank Cars have a four-wheel frame and measure 6-inches in length. The tank car bodies were lithographed in silver with a black or red frame. All of the tank cars were manufactured by Lionel. Tank cars offered in 1931-1932 were included in Ives Mechanical Sets. Tank cars offered in 1933 were included in Lionel-Ives Mechanical Sets. Tank cars offered in 1936-1937 were included in Lionel Mechanical Sets. The tank cars all have hook and slot couplers.

Variations of the No. 1515 Tank Cars include different litho decoration, trim, and frame color. The earliest tank cars were decorated for Union Tank Lines. All later tank cars were decorated Sunoco.
