Lionel No. 1512 Gondola Cars

General Information

The Lionel / Ives No. 1512 Gondola Cars were introduced in 1931 and were issued through 1937. The No. 1512 Gondola Cars have a four-wheel frame and measure 6-inches in length. The gondola car bodies were lithographed in blue or green with a black or red frame. All of the gondolas were manufactured by Lionel. Gondola cars offered in 1931-1932 were included in Ives Mechanical Sets. Gondola Cars offered in 1933 were included in Lionel-Ives Mechanical Sets. Gondola cars offered in 1936-1937 were included in Lionel Mechanical Sets. The gondola cars all have hook and slot couplers.

Variations of the No. 1512 Gondola Cars include different colors of litho on the body and frame color. Early gondolas have a blue litho body and a black frame. Later gondolas have a green litho body and a red frame.
