Lionel No. 1514 Box Cars

General Information

The Lionel / Ives No. 1514 Box Cars were introduced in 1931 and were issued through 1937. The No. 1514 Box Cars have a four-wheel frame and measure 6-inches in length. The box car bodies were lithographed in cream with a painted roof and a black or red frame. The box cars have two opening doors. All of the box cars were manufactured by Lionel. Box cars offered in 1931-1932 were included in Ives Mechanical Sets. Box cars offered in 1933 were included in Lionel-Ives Mechanical Sets. Box cars offered in 1936-1937 were included in Lionel Mechanical Sets. The box cars all have hook and slot couplers.

Variations of the No. 1514 Box Cars include different roof, door, door guide and frame colors. The box car bodies also have different litho body decoration. The latest box cars advertise Baby Ruth candy. The early box cars have small round door handles. Later box cars have stamped door handles.
