Lionel No. 605, 606 Passenger Cars

General Information

The Lionel No. 605 Pullman and No. 606 Observation Passenger Cars were introduced in 1925 and were issued through 1933. The No. 605 and No. 606 were the second to the largest passenger cars issued by Lionel during the Classic Period. These passenger cars were included as components of several high end cataloged passenger sets. They were also included in a few uncataloged or “Special” sets.
The No. 605 and 606 Passenger Cars measure 10-inches in length. The sides of the cars have a metal insert, painted a contrasting color, to create the window inserts and identification of the car number and type. The doors are separate pieces and open. The cars have a clear celluloid strip in the windows and a thin blue celluloid strip covering the upper portion of the windows. The cars are all illuminated.
Variations of the No. 605 and No. 606 Passenger Cars include changes to the body color, roof color, insert color, door color, and journals. All of the cars have air tanks underneath the car, brass Observation Car railing, and separate brass steps. The cars all have latch couplers. The cars all have “The Lionel Lines” rubber stamped above the windows, except as noted otherwise, below.
