No. 260 DEALER REPLACEMENT SHELL
unpainted black plastic

No. 261 NON-ILLUMINATED BUMPER
Identical to the black plastic 260 with no lamp socket, bulb or underside; but with red lens cap.
A component of 1966 Montgomery Ward No. 48HT2130M Lionel Set No. 19547, as well as sets 19546, 19561 & DO19546
Listed as 261-25 Non-Illuminated Bumper

According to the Lionel Comp Parts Index (CPI) and blue prints:
In the mid 60’s a change notice was made whereby Lionel wanted to make a typical 260 bumper using high impact black polystyrene versus metal casting. There were some minor changes to the print going from metal to plastic. This was a cost reduction idea.
261-25 became a non-illuminated bumper in black plastic
261-3 is the sub assembly back plastic – just as it comes off the mold
260-25 is the lighted bumper black plastic
