No. 6418 MACHINERY CAR
No. 6518 TRANSFORMER CAR
GENERAL INFORMATION
LIONEL cast the number of the car into the bottom of the car ( left picture below) from 1955 thru 1956. Then in 1956 LIONEL brought out the No. 6518 Transformer car using the same frame so they removed the number from the casting ( right picture below) in 1956 thru 1957. The girder loads reflect this change. The girder loads from 1955 into 1956 have no number on them, beginning in 1956 thru 1957 the car number (6418) was molded into them in the lower right corner.
