Lionel No. 1673, 1674, 1675 Streamlined Passenger Cars

General Information

The Lionel No. 1673 Streamlined Front End Coach, No. 1674 Streamlined Pullman, and No. 1675 Streamlined Observation Passenger Cars were introduced in 1936 and were issued through 1937. The Nos. 1673, 1674 and 1675 Streamlined Passenger Cars were included in one mechanical or clockwork set in 1936 and 1937. They were paired with a No. 1588 / 1588T Lionel “Torpedo” style mechanical steam locomotive in black. These cars were also included in several electric sets during the same years.

Nos. 1673, 1674, and 1675 Streamlined Passenger Cars measure 9-inches in length (including the vestibule). The cars are not numbered and all have a “Lionel Lines” plate on the sides. The Nos. 1673, 1674, and 1675 Streamlined Passenger Cars are not articulated as the cars each have two complete trucks. However, the cars have connecting vestibules to give the train a streamlined appearance. The cars are not illuminated and do not have journals.

The Nos. 1673, 1674, and 1675 all have red bodies mounted on a black frame. All of the cars have fluted sides. There are no variations. Several reference books report the cars being offered in orange in one uncataloged set, but photos of the cars in orange have never been shown.
