Lionel No. 813 Cattle Cars

General Information

The Lionel No. 813 Cattle Cars were introduced in 1926 and were issued through 1942. The No. 813 Cattle Cars always had manual couplers. The No. 813 Cattle Cars measure 9-inches in length. The cattle cars typically had contrasting colors for the body and roof. The frame was always black. The cars had sliding doors that opened. The doors always matched the car body color and have a handle in the center. The door guides always matched the roof color. Early cattle cars have metal plates to identify the number and “Lionel Lines”. The last No. 813 cattle cars have rubber stamped lettering.

Variations of the No. 813 Cattle Cars include different body and roof color; brass, nickel, or black trim; nickel, copper, or black journals; large or small door handles; and metal identification plates in brass or nickel or rubber stamping. Early cattle cars have latch couplers. Later cattle cars have either early style manual box couplers or late style manual box couplers. Early cattle cars also had a paper lubrication sticker on the underside. The very first cattle cars had a short wheelbase measuring only 4 7/8-inches between the trucks, center to center. All of the other cattle cars have a standard wheelbase measuring 5 1/2-inches between the trucks, center to center.

There are no variations of the No. 2813 Cattle Cars.
