Lionel No. 3651 Operating Lumber Cars
General Information
The Lionel No. 3651 Operating Lumber Cars were introduced in 1938 and were issued through 1942. The cars had a solenoid mounted in a metal housing on the underside of the frame which caused the car to dump when activated. The No. 3651 Operating Lumber Cars always had operating couplers.
The No. 3651 Operating Lumber Cars measure 6 1/2-inches in length. The operating lumber cars were always black and have four nickel stakes and nickel trim. The cars were identified with the number rubber stamped in white on the underside. The cars included six wooden “logs” that were 4 1/2-inches in length and a No. 160 Bakelite unloading bin.

Variations of the No. 3651 Operating Lumber Cars are limited to nickel or black journals and the type of operating coupler.

General Information
The Lionel No. 3811 Operating Lumber Cars were introduced in 1939 and were issued through 1942. The cars had a solenoid mounted in a metal housing on the underside of the frame which caused the car to dump when activated. The No. 3811 Operating Lumber Cars always had operating couplers.
The No. 3811 Operating Lumber Cars measure 9-inches in length. The operating lumber cars were always black and have four nickel stakes and nickel trim. The cars were identified with the number rubber stamped in white on the underside. The cars included eight wooden “logs” that were 4 1/2-inches in length and a No. 160 Bakelite unloading bin.
